BELTON – When the final whistle blew and the dust cleared, the Copperas Cove Bulldawgs claimed area bragging rights by outlasting 13 other teams to claim the Lone Star Shootout Championship over the weekend in Belton. The short-handed Bulldawgs went 3-2-1 on Friday earning a third-place seeding heading to the championship rounds on Saturday where they went undefeated 5-0 to win the crown. “We were missing a lot of our players on Friday,” said Copperas Cove quarterback Manny Harris. “We knew we would beat every team in this tournament so we’ were just playing and making sure we got everything down for today. We knew, whatever seed we were, that we would come out and beat every team.”
