The 12-under Cove Royals may not have brought the state championship home to Copperas Cove, but what they did bring home may be even more valuable – pride and hope for the future of Copperas Cove baseball. The Copperas Cove Royals battled it out Friday with the previously undefeated BMC Patriots of the Chandler area with the 12U Texas Teenage Baseball State Championship on the line. In a well-played, high-quality matchup of two teenage titans, The Patriots escaped with a 7-5 win to claim the crown. “That was the toughest thing I’ve ever been through,” BMC Patriots head coach Steve Jay said to the Royals after the game. “Win or lose, just play with your heart and that’s what you did. That could have went either way. Ya’ll are a great ballclub with a lot of talent.”
