Wilma Arlene Beasley, 77, of Copperas Cove passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2015 in Temple after a brief illness. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Crawford-Bowers Funeral
Home in Copperas Cove. Naomi Woosley, a dear friend to Mrs. Beasley will officiate at her service. Mrs. Beasley will then be laid to rest with her husband in the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas. Wilma was born on December 13,1937 in Springfield, Mo. To Fred and Ellen Brown Beasley. After her mother died at a young age, Wilma was raised by her stepmother, Ora Mae Beasley. She moved to California and in December of 1959, married a young man from Virginia who also shared the name Beasley, A.R. or “Rex” as he was known. Mrs. Beasely traveled the world and back with Rex during his long and decorated military career, from Germany to Virginia and numerous places in between. After Rex returned from Vietnam, the family moved to Ft. Hood where Rex was stationed in 1969, finally settling in Copperas Cove in 1972. Wilma soon took a job as a cashier at Brooks Supermarket in Copperas Cove and through hard work and determination, bought the store in 1981. Mrs. Beasley and her family purchased a second Brooks Supermarket in Lampasas and continued to own and operate the store until her retirement in 1999.Mrs. Beasley was a member of the Glad Tidings Church in Killeen where she practiced her Faith and worship the Lord. Wilma was preceded in death by her parents and
her stepmother; brother, Bill Beasley; sister, Mary Brown, as well as her beloved Rex in 2011. She leaves behind to cherish her memory three sons, Greg, John, and David Beasley, her sisters, Phyllis Garcia and Shirley Roeber, as well as 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
