Roy Dale Brooks, age 56 of Rumley Community died Sunday February 22, 2015 at his home. Roy was born December 3, 1958 in Lampasas the son of Vernon Clifford Brooks and Emily (Blakley) Brooks. Roy was a dedicated farmer and rancher for over 45 years in Lampasas county, maintaining his family land heritage founded in 1876. This ranch was recognized by the State of Texas for being over a century old. Roy and his family ventured into the meat market business for a period of time. He also worked for Crimson Enterprises as superintendent on contracting jobs for 10 years. Roy was an avid hunter and fisherman his entirelife. He also competitively showed cattle for many years. After this, his daughter convinced him that horse showing was as addictive as cattle showing, and he then began his new adventure of hauling her and her horses all over the state of Texas to win state championship titles and national recognitions. He was preceeded in death by his father, Vernon Brooks, and his father in law, Orville Hensler and mother in law Connie Hensler. His family includes his wife of 35 years, Nancy Hensler Brooks of Kempner, Tx. His daughter, Brandyl Julia Brooks of Ft Worth, Texas. His mother, Emily Brooks, a brother Billy Joe Brooks of Jacksboro, Tx and wife Diane Maltby Brooks, a sister Mary Brooks Raub of Lampasas Tx and her husband Darryl Raub, and sister in law Sally Hensler Yancy and spouse David Yancy of Kempner, Texas. He also had the following neices and nephews, Misty Norwood, Torjie Wycough, Braedon Raub, Dawson Raub, and Kaeson Raub. Visitation will be Friday February 27, 2015 from 6-8 p.m. at Sneed Funeral Chapel. Funeral service will be Saturday February 28, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at Sneed Funeral Chapel with burial following at Rock Church Cemetery near Rumley. Reception will be at Hostess House from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. following the burial.
