Robert William Ruonavaara

Robert William Ruanovaara, 62, of Copperas Cove, passed away on Feb. 5, 2017 at Copperas Cove Nursing & Rehabilitation Center with his family near.

Robert was born on Oct. 9, 1954 in Tacoma, Wash. to Edgar and Dee (Owen) Ruonavaara. He married Kon Yi (Gunghe) Kim on May 7, 1976 in Seoul, South Korea. Robert served 13 years as an engineer in the military, 15 years as an electrician for Smith & Gray, and five years as a machinist for Pratt & Whitney.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife. Survivors include two daughters, Kimberly Ruonavaara of Copperas Cove, Connie McCubbin of Alabama; five brothers and sisters to include Nadine Foley, Tom Ruonavaara, Sheril Ruonavaara, and Ed Ruonavaara, all of California; and Jimmy Ruonavaara, of Arizona; three grandchildren, Airelle and Jeremiah Donaldson, and Aidan McCann.

A memorial service will be held today at 7 p.m. at Crawford Bowers Funeral Home, 211 W. Ave. B.
