George Kelly, 86, passed away peacefully at home after a 3 year illness in Kempner on Monday, March 28, 2016. Graveside Services will be at 9:00 a.m., Thursday, March 31, 2016 at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM on Wednesday at Scott’s Funeral Home in Copperas Cove.
George was born in Brookyn, NY on March 4, 1930 to the late George and Alice Smith Kelly. He retired from the military in 1990. George served in the Navy from 1947-1957, Army National Guard and from 1979-1989. His life was dedicated to serving the Lord. George was a pastor of churches in MS, GA, WV, and OH. He was also endorsed by the SBC for International and Home Mission work. Also, they endorsed his as a Chaplin in the Air Force Auxiliary (CAP) where he retired as a Lieutenant Colonel.
George is survived his wife of 63 years, Betty Kelly; daughter, Cheryl Vanderlee; sons, Tom Kelly and wife, Reva, Daryl Kelly and wife, Cathy, John Kelly and wife, Sue; 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Mission through their local church.
