Forrest Lee Hyland
A memorial service for Forrest Lee Hyland, 71, of Copperas Cove, will take place on July 24 at 11 a.m. at Southern Hills Baptist Church, located at 2920 South FM 116, with Pastor Preston Atkinson officiating. Organist and soloist will be Vickie Meadows. His body will be cremated. He died on July 13. Hyland was born on Dec. 26, 1943, to Forrest Henry Hyland and Olive Ruth Mc- Donald. He married Mava Jean Hyland in El Paso in April of 1964. He served in the U.S. Army from January of 1962 until April of 1984. His military awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, the Army Commendation Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, the Army Achievement Medal, a Purple Heart, the Army Good Conduct Medal with Silver 1 Loop, the National Defense Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Korea), the Vietnam Service Medal with 1 Silver Service Star, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with a Bronze Star and Palm Unit Award, the Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon and the Meritorious Service Medal. Survivors include his wife, Mava Jean Hyland; daughter, Charlotte Heinze, married to CSM Roger Heinze of Copperas Cove; son, Forrest James Hyland of Friendswood; seven grandchildren, Kristopher Deaton, Kailee Hyland-Allen, Kody Heinze, Kennadi Hyland, Forrest Kade Hyland, Karson Hyland and Kole Heinze; three great-grandchildren, Kenley Allen, Macy Heinze and Jace Allen; brother Russell and wife, Angela Hyland of Dallas and Larry and Jannie Mora, sister, of Globe, Ariz. Hyland was preceded in death by his parents, Forrest and Olive Hyland; sisters, Hazel Ribon and Wilda Hyland and brother, Paul Hyland. Memorials may be made to Southern Hills Baptist Church, 2920 South FM 116, Kempner, TX 76539 in memory of Forrest L. Hyland.
