Liliana Maria Torregrossa Burnett-Brame, 93, passed away on Friday, January 8, 2021, in Lampasas.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 23, 2021, with a visitation an hour prior at Sneed Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lampasas.
Liliana was born on November 21, 1927, in Castions di Strada, Italy to Salvatore and Francesca Pontormo Torregrossa. She grew up in Udine, Italy, and lived during a turbulent era, WWII in Italy. Both of her parents were Professors; thus, her education was at school when possible and home by her parents. Liliana spoke Italian, English, German, French, and Spanish. She attended college at Central Texas College in Killeen, TX where she received an associate’s degree in Child Development. Liliana worked 3 years for Ma Bell Telephone Company as a phone receiver assembler, a German toy factory for 2 years, a waitress for 17 years, and finally a bus driver for Lampasas ISD for 3 years. She retired in 1988 after 25 years of working.
Liliana married Sanford Burnett in 1951 in Udine, Italy and they were happily married for 31 years. They met when the allies liberated Italy from Germany, as Sanford was in the United States Army. Liliana married her second husband, Robert E. Brame in 1985 in Lampasas, TX. Liliana was a member of the Navion Society, along with her second husband, Robert Brame. She enjoyed flying and ballroom dancing.
Liliana was preceded in death by her parents, Salvatore and Francesca Torregrossa; brother, Adriano Torregrossa; first husband, Sanford Burnett; second husband, Robert E. Brame; sons, William Sanford Francis Burnett and Keith Nathan Burnett.
Survivors include her sisters, Concetta Torregrossa Cavazza, Gianna Torregrossa; daughter-in-law, Linda A. Burnett; children, Shirley Ann Marie (Sammie) Jones; sons, Glenn Wayne (Marion A.) Burnett, Kim Allen (Kim Marie) Burnett; daughter, Kellie Jo Burnett (Kenneth) Felks; grandchildren, Shelley Jones Quillen, Jason Edward Burnett, Sr., Stephen Michael Jones , Richard Warren Canan, III, Shilah Jo Burnett Hollesen, Samantha L. Burnett Piveral, Skylar M. Ivey, Shane Ivey, Rudolph Salvatore Burnett and 9 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations are made to the Kidney/Diabetes Assoc., in honor of her late husband, Sanford Burnett and one of her surviving sons, Glenn Wayne Burnett.
