Taking Strides

Cove sends both squads to Region II-6A Cross Country

By TJ MAXWELL

Anyone who follows Copperas Cove sports closely knows of the 2013-14 exploits of then-freshman Amber Boyd. As a freshman she was the only Cove runner to make it to regionals in cross country as well as in track with her fourthplace finish in the 800-meter run. The boys had no representatives in either of the long-distance sports. This year, Boyd has company – a lot of it. “It feels really good because last year, I was the only one who made it,” said Boyd. “This year, it feels great because my whole team gets to experience something that only I have experienced. It’s really a lot of fun and I can’t wait for them to experience it.”
