Elementary students learn about fire prevention

In commemoration of Fire Prevention Week, the Copperas Cove Fire Department paid a visit to Halstead Elementary School on Friday morning, bringing with them Engine 2 and an ambulance, with the Copperas Cove Police Department sending an officer with a patrol vehicle. The experience was designed to be a hands-on as well as question and answer time for the school’s students, from kindergarten through fifth grade. Kindergarten through second grade assembled in the gymnasium, while third through fifth grade gathered in the school’s parking lot to see the emergency vehicles up close.
