The Copperas Cove Independent School District Board of Trustees has two new faces sitting on the dais after Sherry Hoffpauir and Timothy Traeger took their oath of office during the regular board meeting Tuesday evening.
Hoffpauir took over Place 1, previously held by Inez Faison, who was first elected to the board in 2007. Hoffpauir received almost 63 percent of the votes in November’s General Election, to Faison’s 37 percent.
Traeger took over Place 2, previously held by Shameria Ann Davis Williams, who was initially elected to the board in 2018 and served two terms. Traeger received 58 percent of the votes to Davis’s 41 percent.
After the two new members were sworn in, they each took their spots on the dais next to the rest of the board of trustees.
The board of trustees then voted on board officers, selecting Joan Manning as board president, John Gallen as board vice president and Mike Wilburn as board secretary.
Prior to the swearing in of the two new members, the board of trustees, with Davis absent, approved the consent agenda, which approved the purchase of training modules from Teachworthy for the district’s RISE program to assist those RISE interns and candidates in pursuing alternative teaching certifications, for a cost of $48,000.
The board also cast votes for candidates to serve on the board of directors for the Coryell Central Appraisal District.
“Every two years, we elect representatives for the Coryell Central Appraisal District,” Superintendent Joseph Burns said.
The CAD’s board of directors includes Justin Carothers (Tax Assessor/Collector, Chairman), Bradi Diaz, Inez Faison, Andy James and Jay Manning, Burns said.
Burns said the district was requesting that the board cast 728 votes for Inez Faison and 454 votes for Jay Manning.
