There is a runoff election for Copperas Cove city council Place 2, with the election day set for Saturday, Dec. 14.
Early voting will take place Monday – Friday, Dec. 2-6, and Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 9-10 the following week.
For early voting and election day, polls will be open at the Copperas Cove Early Voting Center, 508-B Cove Terrace. Polls will be open 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. during early voting. On election day, polls will be open 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.
The candidates are Victor Perry Hall II and Rita Hogan. The two were part of a three-way race in the Nov. 5 election, along with George Duncan.
In the Nov. 5 race, Hogan received 4,532 votes and Hall received 2,635, with Duncan receiving 2,228. Hogan did not receive a 50 percent-plus-one majority vote in that race, so it was necessary for the council to declare a runoff after canvassing the votes at Tuesday’s city council meeting.
Christina Strohfus won the race for Place 1, receiving 5,520 votes, and candidate Howard Hawk receiving 4,006 votes. She will be sworn in at a future city council workshop.
