Copperas Cove EDC to host regional career fair in July
Special to the Leader-Press
The Copperas Cove Economic Development Corporation is working to bridge the local workforce gap with an upcoming Regional Career Fair.
The workforce development program first started in May of 2023, when Workforce Development Specialist, Brittany Sanders, had an idea to host a job fair for high school students and young adults to kick off the summer break.
It was decided that it would be more beneficial to host a job fair for the public and incorporate it into the ShopCove Quarterly Pop-up Market. In June of 2023, the Copperas Cove EDC had its first ShopCove Quarterly Pop-up market and Job fair.
The response to the small job fair proved that this was a needed project. It was later named Hire Cove, and its efforts were to provide workforce related resources to the public and to host quarterly job fairs to empower individuals to find fulfilling employment and support businesses in their search for skilled employees.
Since June of 2023, the Copperas Cove EDC has launched a Hire Cove Facebook group with over 300 members, hosted 2 job fairs, and is now partnering with the Texas Veterans Commission and Workforce Solutions of Central Texas to host their first Regional Career Fair on Wednesday, July 17, 2024 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Copperas Cove Civic Center.
"Hire Cove is a community wide program to connect employers with job seekers. It is one of many services provided through the EDC. We are dedicated to bringing quality jobs to Copperas Cove and blessed to have Brittany leading us in this effort," said CCEDC Executive Director, Fred Welch.
