Lady Dawgs sweep Heights despite off night

The No. 25-ranked Copperas Cove Lady Dawgs volleyball squad didn’t show their usual crisp focus on Tuesday night when they traveled across town to take on the Harker Heights Lady Knights in a District 12- 6A showdown. Despite their missteps, the Lady Dawgs were able to sneak out of town with a 3-0 (25-16, 25-21, 25-9) sweep of the Lady Knights. The Lady Dawgs (29-9, 4-1) struggled to find their footing defensively, registering double-digit errors in digs with 18 and blocks with 15. Shots that were normally gobbled up by the Lady Dawg defense were finding floor for much of the night. “I told them, ‘If we all had to have our worst game all in the same day, at least it’s over with,’” said Copperas Cove head coach Cari Lowery. “Now everybody needs to step back up. We’ve had great practices, it just felt flat the whole night tonight.
