Bell ringers sought for Salvation Army in Copperas Cove

A longstanding tradition during the Christmas season in Copperas Cove needs a few helpers this year.
Volunteers are needed to ring the bell in two-hour shifts outside Walmart on behalf of the Salvation Army. Bell ringing hours are 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. daily.
Joan Manning has coordinated the schedule each Christmas season for many years, and said that all money collected in Copperas Cove stays in the community to help others in times of need.
Next week, the week of Dec. 18-22, Manning said she needs bell ringers “morning, noon, and night,” noting that weekday daytime hours have been more challenging to fill. However, with some on break for school or work, she is hoping for more volunteers.
Volunteering isn’t limited to clubs, churches, or local businesses. In fact, families and groups of friends are welcome to sign up for a two-hour shift.
Manning said volunteers are welcome to call or text her at 254-702-2003 or email manningj@ccisd.com and she will share the schedule so they can select the time, or times, they would like to come.
The local Salvation Army helps provide assistance all year long, thanks to the Christmastime donations that come in. Often, it goes to help put families up in a hotel room for a night or two, or several, while they are transitioning between two residences.
