Annual Food Truck Festival set for June 11 in Copperas Cove

The 5th annual Copperas Cove Food Truck Festival is set for Saturday, June 11, at Copperas Cove City Park from 5-10 p.m.
Copperas Cove’s Special Events coordinator, Ashley Wilson, said so far there is a lineup of at least 24 food trucks, with returning trucks to include Shiver Me Shavers, Lowe’s Legs, Sticky Fingas BBQ, Delectable Delights, Kona Ice, Pizza Pie Ros, The Reef, Big Dog BBQ, Gringos Locos Tacos, Funnel Cake Fantasies, Kettle Cornutopia, Funnel Cake Fantasies, and La Palapa.
New to the festival will be Caribbean Flava Ice, Happy Plates, Papa Bear Kettle, Dave’s Burger Barn, Cupcake Avenue, Mix’T Caribbean Blends, Cousins Maine Lobster, Candy’s Porch, Stir Soda Shoppe, Mimi’s Mini Donuts, and Blessed Hands Caribbean.
Community judges will each taste samples from each of the trucks, to award a Grand Prize of $500. As with last year’s festival, there will be a People’s Choice category. New categories for this year’s festival include Best BBQ ($250), Best Taco/Mexican ($250), Best Signature Dish ($250), and Best Dessert ($250).
There will also be other vendors onsite to include Camp Caylor, Demon Sniper Hot Sauce Company, Things & Such, Ace Dental, Fun Flashers, DS Dazzle Me Bling, Everlasting Grace Designs, Cricket Wireless, Expo Home Improvement, United Portable Buildings, Black Axe Company, JenX, Renewal by Anderson, Chencho & Company, Raegan’s Designs, Cove Theater, SWEAT at Cove Fitness, Pika Chews, Reliant Energy, A Torific Trio, Black Moons Rise, Queen’s Sweets, Reds Smoke Shop, Glorious Knick Knacks, and The Wild Bunch Homestead.
“We will have bounce houses, games, petting zoo and pony rides, face painting, and balloon animals available for kids,” said Wilson. “There will be beer and wine tents available by Parks and Recreation, Camp Caylor, and Stir Soda Shoppe. We are still needing volunteers to help with the event.”
The Lonestar Ramblers from Gatesville will be performing from 7:30 – 9:30 p.m.
Admission is $5 per carload and $1 per person for walk-ins.
From 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., food trucks will be competing against each other in best tasting foods competition.
