VFW post 8577 to hold annual Memorial Day ceremony

Local residents will have a few options to choose from to help honor those who gave their lives for their country this Memorial Day. 
Cub Scout Pack 251 will be holding their annual service project in support of their charter organization, VFW Post #8577, on Monday, May 30, placing flags on the graves of veterans in the Copperas Cove City Cemetery starting at 9 a.m. 
The VFW’s annual Memorial Day Ceremony will then begin at 10 a.m. at the pavilion in the cemetery, with a hotdog and hamburger lunch to follow at the VFW Post at 1506 Veterans Ave. at noon. 
Holy Family Catholic Church will be holding a Memorial Day Mass on Sunday, May 29. The Knights of Columbus Council 6658 will be sponsoring a memorial for deceased Catholic war veterans of the Holy Family Parish at the 10:30 a.m. Mass. There will be a roll call of the deceased veterans. 
All city of Copperas Cove’s offices will be closed Monday in observance of the holiday, including the Solid Waste Transfer Station. Solid Waste and Recycle, Brush and Bulk collection services will resume the next day, starting with trash collection for Areas 1 and 2 and recycling/brush/bulk collection for Area 2. 
In Killeen, Victory for Veterans volunteers will meet at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery on Monday at 8 a.m. to place flowers on the gravesite/headstone of each veteran.
