Hale recognized with Yellow Rose of Texas Award

Dawn Hale was recognized with the Yellow Rose of Texas award during the workshop meeting,.
This award, from the Texas Governor’s Office, is based on exceptional community service and is given to women in the state of Texas.
Hale served as the 2021-2022 Five Hills Ambassador for the Five Hills Scholarship Pageant Program and prior to that served as the Senior Ms. Five Hills for 2020-2021.
Hale is also the chairperson of the Animal Shelter Advisory Board, a Commissioner with Keep Copperas Cove Beautiful and an alumnus of the Copperas Cove Citizens Police Academy.
Hale began her volunteer work with the Five Hills Scholarship Pageant Program in 2016, when it was still called the Rabbit Fest Pageant, after her granddaughter, Kaydence, became a titleholder.
During her reign in 2020, Hale amassed 445 volunteer hours, and during her reign as the 2021 Five Hills Ambassador, she accrued 504.5 volunteer hours. She dedicated her time to the senior citizens of Copperas Cove, at the city’s different nursing homes and beyond.
Former Volunteer Pageant Director Wendy Sledd, who presented Hale with the award during Tuesday’s meeting, estimated that Hale had given more than 3,000 hours of service in her time with the program, from before she ever wore a crown, as well as the work she has done with the various committees and commissions.
