GymKix gymnast places 7th at regionals in Colorado
Special to the Leader-Press
After qualifying to Level 8 Regionals based on her high performance at State in March, Gymkix’s own Serenity Sales travelled from Copperas Cove all the way to Estes Park, Colorado to represent the state of Texas at the Region 3 Regional Championships on April 10.
Serenity competed against more than 60 other athletes in her age division among the states of Texas, Oklahoma, Colorado, Arkansas, Kansas, New Mexico, and Wyoming- recording a Season-High score on the Uneven Bars and placing seventh in the Region on the Floor Exercise, an event she added a new skill to recently.
Choosing to be at her personal best for Regionals, Sales also upgraded in another area with two new skills on perhaps what is the most difficult event, the Balance Beam. She stayed poised and confident throughout her routine and completed both new skills with no assistance needed, and gained experience that can only be achieved through the hard work that she has dedicated to herself and her team.
Sales was the first of 6 Royals to qualify for Regional Championships in their respective levels this 2022 season.
She absolutely pioneered and paved the way for several others to be successful and strive for personal and team excellence.
With the Royals 2022 season closing on a high note, she looks forward to her 2023 season and has already begun work towards her level 9 goals.
She aims to be one of six level 9’s for the GymKix Royals next season and now focuses her mindset to cheering on the Level 7 group that has qualified for their own Regional Championship in May.
