Bible Way hosting annual MLK Jr. commemoration and unity walk

On Monday at 1 p.m., the annual unity walk will take place in Copperas Cove, remembering the legacy of slain civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr.

Bible Way Missionary Baptist Church, which is hosting the event, welcomes the community to participate.

Lineup begins at 12:45 p.m. in the parking lot at 1402 S. F.M. 116, and the walk will proceed along F.M. 116 and end at Bible Way Missionary Baptist Church, located at 2306 S. F.M. 116.

After the conclusion of the walk, the church will host the MLK Commemorative service at 2 p.m.

Keynote speaker wilal be Dr. Colette Pierce Burnette, the president of Huston-Tillotson University in Austin. Because of Covid related concerns, her address will be live streamed, but the rest of the program take place in person.
