Alzona wins Copperas Cove city council Place 3 seat

Final unofficial results are in for the Dec. 7 special election for Copperas Cove city council Place 3.
With 360 Copperas Cove voters heading to the polls or mailing in ballots, Shawn Alzona received 266 votes, or 61.67 percent. Fellow candidate Scott A. Remalia received 138 votes, or 38.33 percent.
Results will need to be canvassed by the city council before Alzona can be sworn in.
Alzona will fill the remaining term for Place 3, which expires in November 2022.
Former Place 3 councilman and Mayor Pro Tem Dan Yancey filed to run for mayor, and he won the Nov. 2 general election.
