After months of delays and uncertainty, the Lone Star Suds Express Car Wash will be opening for business in early December.
The brand-new facility will be having a ribbon cutting and a grand opening celebration with dates that are still being determined, but should be set very soon.
The property ownership has changed hands, with Go Car Wash purchasing the property and the facility itself.
Go Car Wash owns and operates multiple car washes in Kansas, Missouri, Nevada, New York, Virginia, as well as Texas.
This will be one of their newest locations in Texas, said Kalven Medina, New Site Integration Leader for Go Car Wash.
They recently opened a location in Laredo in late October, a Dale Shine Express which like Lone Star Suds, will be rebranded.
Medina is excited that Go Car Wash was able to acquire Lone Star Suds and get the facility open and serving customers in Copperas Cove.
Currently, Lone Star Suds is also hiring, with interested jobseekers encouraged to apply at https://jobs.gocarwash.com/.
In addition to constructing its own facilities, Go Car Wash also acquires existing car washes, then rebrands them to Go Car Wash.
During the first days of opening in Copperas Cove, they will be offering free car washes as well as half-price memberships for the first month. Membership signups will be available on site, with more information to be released by the company.
Go Car Wash offers washes, drying, and waxing, wheel cleaner, and bug repellant for vehicles.
This will be Go Car Wash’s northernmost location in the state of Texas, with other locations coming to Rockdale, Austin, and Buda.
Although construction was completed in the spring of 2021, the former owners of Lone Star Suds didn’t’ open their doors.
Rumors abounded in Copperas Cove as to why the car wash hadn’t opened, such as staffing issues, the facility not passing inspection, and another rumor – not being able to afford the deposit to get the water turned on. That particular rumor –which had deposit “price tags” of $20,000 to as much as $60,000, depending on who shared the “information” – simply is not true.
Kevin Keller, the city’s director of public relations, confirmed that Lone Star Suds paid its deposits earlier in the year and has paid its monthly base fees for water and sewer services. Lone Star Suds also applied for its certificate of occupancy in March 2021, according to city records.
Some of the delay has also been attributed to equipment, but Medina said that Go Car Wash will be opening this Copperas Cove location with the newest technology available in car washes.
