Hit-and-run Saturday night injures pregnant Copperas Cove woman, child

A Saturday evening hit-and-run incident sent a Copperas Cove woman to the hospital, and the driver of the other vehicle is still unidentified as of Monday afternoon, according to Copperas Cove police.

Christyn Nauert, who was seven months pregnant, and her two-year-old daughter, Remyngton, were traveling in a Honda CRV, and the driver of a white Econoline van failed to yield the right of way.

The CRV was struck by the van, driven by what has been described by witnesses as a male.

While those nearby stopped to render aid at the scene of the accident, the male exited the van and left the scene of the accident on foot. He was reportedly last seen on Saturday evening, heading north in the direction of A-Stop on F.M. 116. and talking on a phone.

Copperas Cove police said the van’s owner informed them that the van was driven without the owner’s permission.

Christyn was airlifted to Baylor Scott & White Hospital where her infant daughter, Oaklynn Reign Laree Collins, was delivered. Remyngton suffered some bruising from the car seat straps, but otherwise was uninjured.

Paula Nauert, Christyn’s mother, announced on Monday morning that the infant, Oaklynn, did not survive. Christyn is expected to make a full recovery. Paula has expressed the family’s thanks to the community for the outpouring of love, support, and prayers.
