Pink Warrior Angels holding block party, Pink Out game Friday night in Copperas Cove at Bulldawg Stadium

Pink Warrior Angels of Texas will bring the fun and crafting again to their annual Block Party scheduled for this Saturday, October 9, at HomeBase Lumber at 804 E. Bus. 190 in Copperas Cove.

The event serves as a fundraiser for the non-profit organization founded by Copperas Cove resident Julie Moser and will feature a DIY craft led by Maria Reed of Moving with the Military. There will also be games, raffle baskets and prizes, a selfie station and food and refreshments.

Pink Warrior Angels of Texas was started after Moser was diagnosed with breast cancer several years ago as a way to connect “Angels” and “Warriors” or women who had gone through breast cancer with those who were currently fighting breast cancer. The organization has since shifted to encompass all cancer diagnoses and survivors and raises money to assist with different financial needs and provide scholarships.

“We are excited to have Homebase and Moving with the Military continue supporting PWATX with this community event,” Moser said. “Both Mark and Maria understand the impact a cancer diagnosis can have on a family. Their support helps us not only grow but to educate those on the misconceptions about cancer, especially breast cancer. All funds raised will go to someone battling cancer through our financial assistance program. What makes our program unique is we are not income based and review each application on a case-by-case basis.”

The event will last from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The DIY crafting demonstrations will be held at different scheduled times. Participants can reserve their spot by visiting https://pwatx.org/pink-block-party/.

DIY participants are encouraged to show up 15 minutes ahead of their scheduled time slot to check-in. There are only 25 slots per each session, and each session is $15 per person.

On Friday, October 8, the Copperas Cove High School Varsity Football team will have their Pink Out Game in honor of breast cancer awareness month, with Pink Warrior Angels of Texas as a special guest. The CCHS cheerleaders and Cheer Booster Club have been selling t-shirts for the game, as they do every year. They will be donating 20 percent of their profits to Pink Warrior Angels of Texas to financially help people in the community who suffer from cancer, according to Cheer Booster Club president Elizabeth Chase.

“We started giving to PWA because we wanted to help those local to Copperas Cove,” Chase said.

The check will be presented prior to the game Friday evening.

Pink Warrior Angels will also be benefiting from a Dine to Donate night at the Killeen Texas Roadhouse location today, October 5. Diners can find a flier on the Pink Warrior Angels Facebook page to show at their dinner his evening, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., and Pink Warrior Angels of Texas will receive 10 percent of each food purchase.
