On Saturday evening, the community is invited downtown for Copperas Cove’s National Night Out kickoff, hosted by the Copperas Cove Police Department.
The party is back, after a hiatus in 2020, and takes place from 6 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.
Families and children will have plenty to do, from jumping in bounce houses, to playing games.
Organizations present will include Bikers Against Child Abuse, Citizens Fire and Public Safety Volunteers Association, Copperas Cove Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association, the CCHS Criminal Justice Club, along with the Copperas Cove Five Hills Scholarship Pageant royalty.
There is no admission charge, and everyone will receive a door prize ticket at the event.
Most activities are free and others are 25 cents per ticket, available for purchase. Hotdogs and chips will be 25 cents each.
The annual National Night Out itself is set for Tuesday, Oct. 5 from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m.
Residents are welcome to complete a National Night Out registration form, with forms available from Lt. Kevin Miller at 254-547-8222 ext. 6956, picking up a form at the police department or downloading a form from the city’s website at copperascovetx.gov.
Historically, several neighborhoods in Copperas Cove hold block parties, when neighbors gather on sidewalks and curbside to cook out, join in activities together, such as playing games or jumping in bounce houses.
National Night Out is a crime and drug prevention awareness program to strengthen neighborhoods and the partnership between local law enforcement and the community.
