The Copperas Cove tennis team improved their season record to 8-6 on Tuesday with a 14-5 win over the Lampasas Badgers. “Our boys had a big night tonight sweeping Lampasas 9-0,” said head coach Paul Talbett. “Our girls played well against a strong Lampasas team as well, going 5-4. We started off a little sluggish early on in doubles, but picked it up to take a 5-2 lead coming out of doubles. We were down 3-0 in three of the matches, and 4-1 in another, and came back and took 3 of 4 of those matches.” The boys dominated their side of the action, sweeping both doubles and singles play. The Cove duo of Dominic Smith and Jake Abraham pounded Lampasas’s Moore/ Bynam 6-1, 6-1 to lead the boys’ doubles. Justin Adams and James Llanos also recorded a lopsided 6-2, 6-2 victory. Smith, James Llanos and Justin Adams led the boys’s singles with 8-2 wins over Shrader Davis, J.D. Bynam and Ty Claussen, respectively.
