The Oakalla Volunteer Fire Department is holding its annual fajita dinner and auction on Saturday, Dec. 12 from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m., with the auction starting at 7 p.m.
For $15 for adults and $5 for children, diners can have an all-you-can-eat fajita meal.
The event had been rescheduled from Nov. 7, when two of the department’s own were involved in a serious fleet accident that same morning.
One of the firefighters was kept overnight and released the following day for observation.
However, the other was admitted to the intensive care unit in an Austin Hospital, and was released from the hospital to a neurologic rehab facility, on Nov. 24.
A portion of the proceeds from this rescheduled event will go to aid the injured firefighters.
Auction items usually include handcrafted goods, metal art, Western décor, household items, outdoor items, and more donated by local businesses and community members.
Saturday night’s event will also include gun raffles.
Oakalla VFD, based in Burnet County, also gives assistance to area fire departments when needed.
To get to Oakalla, tame F.M. 2657 south for approximately 12 miles, then take a right on F.M. 963. The fire station will be on the left.
