Next Monday morning there will be a parade streaming down my street, all the children and their parents as they head to the school nearby. Backpacks glowing, sneakers new and unscuffed, the kids either bounce along or trudge, depending on their age. The parents look a bit like pack mules on the first day, some of them carrying bags of school supplies. School is lots of fun when your brain is a sponge. What’s not to love about learning new things? Unless it’s math, that necessary evil. But I’m not going to pick on math.
