Cove Tennis splits on Friday, moves to 4-1

The Dawg Tennis team improved to 4-1 after splitting matches with Killeen and Pflugerville on Friday.The Dawgs began the day with a lopsided 16-3 win over the Killeen Kangaroos. “In the morning match we came out against Killeen and took control of the match early,” said Copperas Cove head coach Paul Talbett. “After being up 5-2 after doubles, we took 11 out of 12 singles matches to win 16-3.” In boys doubles, the Copperas Cove duo of Brett Alber and Nic Fletcher earned a 6-2, 6-2 win over Hernandez and Duran, and Cove’s Jeremiah Gray and Brandon James defeated Rivera/ Russ 6-2, 4-6 (10-8) in a tiebreaker. Jake Abraham and Dominic Smith fell in a tie-break (0-6, 6-2 (10- 6) against Killeen’s Logan Foret and Yoobin Hong.
