Another positive confirmed case of COVID-19 in Copperas Cove, mobile testing site set for Thursday

Another Copperas Cove resident has tested positive for COVID-19, said Bob Harrell, Coryell County Emergency Management Coordinator, shortly before noon.
As of Friday, there were 26 active cases in the county, with 22 recovered. On Friday, the two new cases were a Gatesville female in her 40s and a Gatesville female between the age of 10-19.
This new positive case in Copperas Cove plus another positive case at the Texas Department of Corrections in Gatesville, brings the total countywide to 207, with 21 in Copperas Cove.
Statewide, there are 37,860 confirmed positive COVID-19 cases as per Saturday's update from the Texas Department of State Health Services. More than half of those cases, or 20,141, are listed as recovered by the TDSHS.
To date, there have been 1,049 fatalities in the state of Texas, with 1,735 COVID-19 patients currently hospitalized. So far, there have been 489,294 tests conducted.
The Texas Army National Guard will be holding another mobile testing site on Thursday, May 14, from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., at Copperas Cove Fire Station #2, located at the corner of Grimes Crossing Road and F.M. 1113, and at the Gatesville Civic Center.
There is no cost for the testing, but a reservation for the test must be scheduled in advance starting on Wednesday, May 13. Those wishing to receive a test, whether they have symptoms of COVID-19, or are a first responder or essential worker, may be tested.

Last Monday, there was a testing site in Copperas Cove and in Gatesville, with 163 samples taken, 105 in Copperas Cove and 58 in Gatesville.
According to Harrell, 139 of the local tests are still pending results due to a lab backlog.
