Copperas Cove firefighter battling lymphoma

The Copperas Cove Fire Department responds to calls for help, 24 hours per day, seven days per week.
Now, the department is putting out a call for help, for one of their own. 
Jose Negrete, a 30-year-old firefighter/paramedic, has been diagnosed with lymphoma. 
Negrete has been a Copperas Cove firefighter for more than four years, and a paramedic for more than two years. 
“Jose has selflessly been there for many in the community in the worst of their times. Now he needs us to come together and help him as he very literally fights for his life,” the department stated on its Facebook page on Sunday. “Please pray or help out. Thirty years old with a family is too young for this remarkable young man.”
Rachel and Patrick Pitts have set up a GoFundMe link with a goal of raising $10,000 to help Negrete and his wife, Maggie. 
According to the Pitts, Negrete is currently receiving chemotherapy and will need much more treatment, with donations going directly to the Negretes. 
“He is the sole provider for his household and he will be out of work for an undetermined amount of time at this point. Jose has saved so many lives; now it’s our turn to repay him in any way we can.”
