CCISD looks to purchase three new buses, discuss longrange facilities planning

The Copperas Cove Independent School District board of trustees is holding its monthly meeting at 6 p.m. today, at the CCISD Administration board room, located at 408 S. Main St. 

Two budgeted purchases that are more than $25,000 are up for approval by the board on Tuesday, the purchase of two 77-passenger buses and one 54-passenger special needs bus, all totaling $312,309, and the district’s subscription for Schoology, in the amount of $58,800.

An out-of-state trip is up for approval this evening, for the annual Assistive Technology Industry Association Conference, set for Jan. 28-Feb. 1, 2020, in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. 

A budget amendment is presented for the board this evening, for the salary increases for staff in accordance with Texas House Bill 3.

The board will also take action on the notice of election and election services contracts with Coryell and Bell Counties, for the upcoming Nov. 5 election for the board of trustees, with Harry L. Byrd and Jeff Gorres running for the position currently occupied by Bob Weiss, and incumbents Joan Manning and Mike Wilburn running for their positions.

The board will also make nominations of one to five individuals for the Coryell and Bell County Central Appraisal District boards.

The district is also looking into its present and future facilities, with administration presenting a statement of work with the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) Facility Services for the completion of an educational facility assessment as well as a long-range facility plan. 

The board will receive the list of resignations for September 2019, as well as the quarterly investment report as of Aug. 31, a district enrollment report as of Sept. 17, an asset report and property disposal from August 2019, along with the district’s STAAR testing report.
