The Cove Youth Football League season is rapidly approaching and a tentative deadline set to raise funds has come and gone with less than a quarter of the $12,000 needed to hold the season raised thus far. “Of course everyone knows, via the media, we need $12,000 for helmets,” said Joseph Pace, director of the Copperas Cove Parks and Recreation Department. “However, If we get close that would free up money and we could possibly make it along with other things that are in the works.” The program needs the $12,000 to upgrade the safety equipment to meet the minimum safety standards. They have raised approximately $2,700 as of Thursday morning, said Pace.
