New Copperas Cove shop sells CBD products, women’s apparel, custom printed décor

Tide of Vibes, one of Copperas Cove’s newest small businesses, opens its doors to the public Tuesday at noon. 
Owners Rebecca Mione and Lauri Burnett are both Army veterans and nurse practitioners who love to make things and wanted to offer more to the community.
In addition to custom printed shirts, pillows, aluminum signs and more, Tide of Vibes also sells CBD products from three different brands- Green Roads CBD, Green Lotus Hemp and Infinite CBD. 
They are proud to offer CBD, or cannabidiol, products in addition to their other items and are well-versed in the benefits of CBD. They also offer a 25 percent discount to retired, active-duty and first responders, according to Burnett. 
“We’ve seen the CBD products work,” Mione said. “We’ve had good results with our products so far and we know these things work, we believe in them, so we’re very excited to be able to offer that also.”
Burnett explained that there is no need for customers to worry about testing positive on a drug test when using CBD products, because there is no THC in the products they sell. 
To be sold legally, CBD products must come from “industrial hemp”, which refers to the cannabis sativa plant and any part of the plant which has less than 0.3 percent of THC concentration. With the signing of the 2018 Farm Bill, licensed farmers nationwide are allowed to grow industrial hemp. The bill also removed industrial hemp from the illegal Schedule 1 drugs list. 
“We’re both nurse practitioners and we get drug tested all the time and we use it,” she added. 
Burnett said that even as a nurse practitioner, she has never been a fan of pharmaceuticals, even though her patients have required them. When she heard that CBD products were available, she and Mione researched as much as they could about the products available. 
She found out that the human body is full of endocannabinoid receptors and that cannabinoids were in things like chocolate and fennel. 
Just like people who take antidepressants which are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, which help the body absorb serotonin better, people who take CBD products will see their body absorb cannabinoids in different ways, Burnett said. 
People can have an inadequate number of endocannabinoid receptors, she added. CBD products work to help with anxiety, depression and pain relief through topical use, sublingual use (under the tongue), inhalable use, or ingestible use. 
Burnett recommended customers start with a low dose and go slow to see how their body reacts. Treat CBD products like any other medication, she added. 
“It’s going to have some effect on you, we just don’t know what effect it’s going to have on you because every single person is different,” Burnett said. “Every single person has a different metabolic rate, everybody has a different number of receptors, whether they’re too little, too many or too faulty ones.”
The products range from single doses of CBD oil for $6.99 to individual gummy packs for $4.99 and up to CBD infused coffee grounds for $13.99 to dropper bottles of CBD oil and topical creams. 
Everything in their store is based on “vibes,” from the Texas vibes seen through items featuring bluebonnets and Texas stars, to the Western vibes seen through the Lucky & Blessed clothing line and the Montana West handbags they carry. 
“There are so many vibes, and we’re selling CBD and that’s such a different end of it- you know, you have high tide, low tide, fall tide, there’s like a different moon tide,” Burnett said. “We thought, ‘Wow! That would be a good name for us,’ Tide of Vibes, because there’s a different vibe, and it’s based on where you are in your tide, especially with these products. We just thought that that fit the best.”
Burnett said that the name really ties all that they hope to offer together. 
“You may be coming in for one thing and you get kind of a full circle of things,” she added. 
In their store, the majority of the items are customized by Mione and Burnett themselves through a process called sublimation, which lasts longer than vinyl or screen printing. 
They can custom print t-shirts, aluminum signs, coffee mugs, hats, ties, socks, coasters, keychains, cutting boards, magnets and more. 
This is actually how they began their business venture, making custom products for family and friends, before they decided to open their own store. 
The store is located at 2210 E. Business 190 in Suite 7 on the second floor. Tide of Vibes opens to the public today from noon to 6 p.m. Regular hours are noon to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, and noon to 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. The store is closed Sundays and Mondays.
