Businesses, churches holding Halloween, fall events

A number of local businesses, churches, and organizations are holding Trunk Or Treat and Fall Festival events this weekend and on Oct. 31.
The Copperas Cove Moose Lodge is holding a Haunted House and Safe Trick Or Treat both tonight, Oct. 26 and Saturday, Oct. 27 from 6-8 p.m. The event is open to the public, with admission to the haunted house by donation of unperishable food or canned goods, or monetary donations.
Hill Country Nursing & Rehabilitation Center is hosting its third annual Trunk or Treat on Friday, Oct. 26 starting at 5:30 p.m. The center is located at 810 Industrial Ave.
The Copperas Cove Armed Services YMCA is holding a Jack-O-Lantern Jubilee on Saturday, Oct. 27 from 2-4 p.m. There will be a costume contest, Raising Cane’s and Cinergy Cinema prize wheels, games, and more. The YMCA is located at 501 Clara Dr.
Kempner VFW Post 3393 is holding a Halloween Fun Fest on Saturday, Oct. 27, from 2-4 p.m. with food and games, and a costume contest. The post is located at 424 County Rd. 4931 off Boys Ranch Rd.
On Saturday evening, from 5-8 p.m., North Pointe Church, located at 1115 N. Main St. is holding its Blocktober, with food, games and more from 5-7 p.m., and then a special live show by Captain Rex at 8 p.m.
Also on Saturday night, Eastside Baptist Church, 1202 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., is hosting its annual fall festival from 6-8 p.m.
On Friday and Saturday night, 6-11 p.m., Central Texas College is hosting its annual Haunted House/Fall Carnival at the Mayborn Science Theater. The haunted house will be held outside the Mayborn Science Theater (Bldg. 152) while games and carnival activities will be inside the building.
A tour of the haunted house costs $5 per person and the cost of the carnival games starts at 50 cents.. There will also be a hayride around campus.
In addition to carnival games, the Mayborn Science Theater will also feature Halloween-themed shows both nights. The show schedule starts Friday at 7 p.m. with “Spookley the Square Pumpkin.” At 8 p.m. is the laser light show “Laser Halloween” followed by another laser light show “Laser Hallow-SCREAM” at 9 p.m. then at 10 p.m. is “Laser Hypnotica.”
Saturday evening’s show lineup starts at 6 p.m. with “Room on the Broom.” At 7 p.m. is the laser light show “Fright Light.” “Laser X” is at 8 p.m. followed by “Laser Halloween” at 9 p.m. The film, “Friday the 13th” is at 10 p.m.
Both Grace United Methodist Church, located at 101 W. Ave. F, as well as First Baptist Church, located at 300 W. Ave. B, are holding Trunk or Treat events from 6-8 p.m. on Halloween night.
