City’s sales tax revenue climb outpaces average statewide

Copperas Cove’s sales tax revenues have continued to climb for yet another month in 2018, with the city set to receive $377,210.19, up 9.03 percent compared to June 2017.
In his monthly statement released Wednesday, Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar said he will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose taxing districts $710.4 million in local sales tax allocations for June, 11 percent more than in June 2017. These allocations are based on sales made in April by businesses that report tax monthly.
The state of Texas is issuing $457 million in sales tax revenue allocations to cities, up 10.1 percent compared to June 2017. City sales tax revenues across the state are overall increased 7.4 percent for the year.
Overall for 2018, Copperas Cove’s sales tax revenue is up 10.95 percent, with a tally of $2,481,149.50 compared to the $2,236,169.59 it had received as of June 2017.
The city of Gatesville will receive $168,875.80, up 2.42 percent from last June’s amount of $164,879.01 and overall up 7.1 percent from 2017.
The city of Kempner is receiving $7,270.67, down 16.44 percent compared to the $12,259.48 it received in June 2017. Kempner is down 26 percent for 2018 compared to 2017.
The sales tax revenue check for the city of Lampasas this month is up 3.65 percent at $142,514.98, but revenues for the year so far are down 0.45 percent.
Killeen’s sales tax revenue amounts to $1,881,825.71, which is up 8.53 percent from last June’s $1,733,778.70 and is up 3.78 percent overall for 2018.
Harker Heights’ sales tax revenue is down 1.91 percent for the month, with its sales tax rebate check this totaling $486,338.11, compared to last June. For 2018, Harker Heights’ sales tax revenues are up 3.51 percent compared to 2017.
The city of Belton will receive a check for $$447,418.63, which is up 24.65 percent from June 2017. Belton’s sales tax revenue is up 8.75 percent overall for 2018.
