City’s monthly sales tax revenues exceed $500,000 in report

The city of Copperas Cove will be receiving a sales tax revenue check for $510,594.24, which is up 15.45 percent compared to the $ 442,231.10 it received in May 2017, according to the monthly report released Wednesday from the office of state comptroller Glenn Hegar.
Overall for 2018, city sales tax revenue payments are up 11.3 percent for the calendar year at $2,103,939.31, compared to the $1,890,213.40 received by the same time last year.
Gatesville’s sales tax rebates amount to $219,959.38, up 9.58 percent from last May’s amount of $200,712.79, and overall up 8 percent compared with 2017.
Killeen will be receiving $2,351,263.79, up 8.71 percent from last May’s $2,162,837.04 and up 2.92 percent overall for 2018. Harker Heights saw an increase of 7.75 percent this month, with $689,872.72, compared to last May’s amount of $640,243.80, down. For 2018, Harker Heights’ sales tax revenue totals are up 4.47 percent.
The city of Belton will receive $506,855.28 in sales tax revenue for its monthly check, up 3.56 percent from the $489, 391.34 it received in May 2017. Belton’s revenue is up 5.95 percent overall for 2018, compared to 2017.
In Lampasas County, the city of Kempner is continuing to see a downward trend in its sales tax receipts and will be receiving $$9,002.11 in sales tax revenue, down 11.49 percent from May 2017’s amount of $10,170.75. Kempner’s sales tax revenues are down 27.39 percent for 2018. The revenue for the city of Lampasas is also down this month, 3.41 percent compared to May 2017 and will be receiving a check for $161,616.36. The city is down 1.20 percent overall for 2018.
Hegar will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose taxing districts $861.8 million in local sales tax allocations for May, 9.4 percent more than in May 2017. These allocations are based on sales made in March by businesses that report tax monthly, and sales made in January, February and March by quarterly filers.
