CCISD to name teachers, paraprofessional of the year

Tonight, the Copperas Cove Independent School District will name its elementary and secondary teachers of the year, paraprofessional of the year, and support personnel of the year at the board of trustees’ monthly meeting. The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. in the CCISD administration building, located at 703 W. Ave. D.
Along with recognizing those individuals, the district will be recognizing Texas Discount Automotive for its fundraiser that raised $1,000 for the district’s child nutrition fund, as well as Mae Stevens Learning Academy for receiving an Excellence in Education Award from H-E-B.
Also this evening, CCISD administration is bringing a candidate for the position of Deputy Superintendent for Instructional Services to the board for approval tonight. Patricia Remissong, M.S., Ed.D., of Gaithersburg, Md., is being presented for that position after being selected from a field of 42 applicants. This position is a reboot of the Deputy Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction, which has been vacant. 
Three budgeted purchases that each exceed $25,000 are being brought to the board for approval, to include the Schoology Assessment Management Platform (AMP) for $37,800, technology cabling demolition at Copperas Cove high school in the amount of $33,165, as well as a new Scoreboard and Play Timers for Bulldawg Stadium, to be purchased via a Buy Board contract for $43,975.95.
A contract for the construction of a turn lane at Williams Ledger Elementary School for $65,822.07 is being brought to the board for approval, along with authorizing the CCISD Superintendent to Execute the Contract on Behalf of the District. 
Another contract for construction is being brought for approval, that of performing the electric renovation at Halstead Elementary School for an amount not to exceed $593,501.59
Contract renewals and ext3nsions for the district’s administrative positions, to include principals, assistant principals, central office directors and coordinators, central special education personnel, as well as contracts for teachers and other staff are up for approval this evening as well. 
One out of state trip is up for approval, that for the School Nutrition Association Annual National Conference, set to take place in Las Vegas, July 9-12, for $2,167.
Budget amendments for budget transfers at several campuses are up for approval this evening, to include CCHS, transferring $50,000 from Instruction to Extra-Curricular for student and employee CTE travel; for Mae Stevens Early Learning Academy, $2,000 from Maintenance to School Leadership for “purchase of assets less than $5,000”; for three transfers in the Williams Ledger Elementary budget, $398 from Instruction Staff Development to School Leadership for principal travel, $493 from Instruction Staff Development to Guidance & Counseling for counselor travel; and from Extra-curricular to Instruction to purchase instructional supplies.
The Child Nutrition Program’s budget is also needing an approved amendment of $52,000, to purchase two vans to deliver food from the central warehouse to cafeterias and summer feeding sites. These funds would come from the Child Nutrition’s fund balance.
