City holds annual Easter Egg Round-Up

Hundreds of children made a mad dash to grab as many eggs as possible, filling their baskets and hoping to the be the lucky recipient of the ‘golden ticket’ on Saturday morning.
Ashley Borchers, the city’s tourism and information coordinator, estimated that approximately 600 children participated in the 2018 Easter Egg Roundup. 
The event, hosted by Copperas Cove Parks and Recreation, started at 9 a.m. at City Park. The hunt was divided into four different age brackets; children 0-3, 4-6,7-10, and an adaptive category for children with exceptional needs.
“It’s a way to bring community together to celebrate and make memories,” said Borchers.

5,000 eggs were strewn throughout each field with one special egg per age group containing a ‘golden ticket’ which awarded the finder with their very own Easter basket full of goodies.
“I honestly thought it was pretty neat. The kids had a good time,” said Nicole Dellavalle, who brought her four children to the event. One of her children, James Flowers (6) found the ‘golden ticket’ for his age bracket.
When asked about his strategy for the hunt, Flowers said, “To find as many eggs as possible!”
Due to the large number of eggs in each field, many of the children were able to leave the event with full baskets. Those that missed their hunt or picked up very few eggs were given some after the event to make sure that nobody left emptyhanded. After the hunt, children were able to pose for pictures with the Easter Bunny himself.
“This is wonderful. This is one of the best I’ve been to,” said Katie Waite, who brought her son Oliver Waite (3) to the egg hunt. “Oh my God, he had so much fun. He saw the Easter Bunny and had a big ol’ smile on his face.”
“I ran in the grass and got a bunch of eggs!” said Oliver Waite, proudly showing off his full basket.
