A six-unit apartment building on Sunset Lane has been deemed a total loss after an early Sunday morning fire.

Deputy Fire Chief Gary Young with the Copperas Cove Fire Department said they were notified of the fire shortly after 2 a.m., and upon responding to the call personnel arrived to find flames coming from the roof of the building. A small passenger bus on an adjacent property was also burning, Young added.

The CCFD initially responded with its ladder truck, two fire engines, two ambulances, as well as a 13-person command unit.

The incident became a two-alarm fire, with the CCFD sending a third fire engine.

Fort Hood also sent a fire engine and Acadian EMS sent an ambulance.

“The building was unoccupied at the time of the incident and had been for a number of previous years,” Young said. “No civilian injuries or deaths occurred as a result of this incident.”

After two hours, the fire was deemed under control.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
