CCHS one act play advance to bi-district contest

Copperas Cove High School has advanced to bi-district One Act Play competition for the second consecutive year and is looking ahead to March 24 to advance to the area contest.
On Saturday, March 3, the CCHS Theater Arts Department competed with the one-act play, “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time” which focuses on Christopher Boone, an autistic boy who discovers his neighbor’s dog, Wellington, murdered. Christopher goes on an adventure throughout London to discover who killed Wellington. Along the way, Christopher faces his fears and uncovers the truth behind the death of his mother.
This is also the second year for theater art teachers, Cody Edgar and Katy Tagliabue, to take Copperas Cove High School’s one act play to competition. 
“Last year, we had the honor of advancing from district to bi-district and being named alternate to area,” Tagliabue said. “Cody and I are extremely passionate about this show. We feel that it sheds light on our world’s treatment of those with special needs and begs the question....can someone who is different achieve his dreams and live a full life? The play demonstrates Christopher’s autism is not something that makes Christopher broken. Instead, Christopher’s autism makes him brilliant in ways we could never dream of.”
CCHS student Rachel Tabor won Outstanding Technician. Gabriella McKenna won Honorable Mention All-Star Cast. Andrew Carter won All-Star Cast. From among the seven schools competing, Dylon Nelson won Best Actor for his portrayal of Christopher Boone.
“This is a beautiful story about overcoming hardships without glossing over their difficulties,” Tabor said. “Not only for the characters, but for all of us too, working on this has been a challenge.” 
The bi-district competition takes place at Midway High School on March 24, with winners advancing to the area contest. Admission is free.
