Early voting continues this week

A total of 346 Copperas Cove voters made their way to the polls during the first week of early voting in the city of Copperas Cove, which ran Tuesday through Friday last week. In Gatesville, 903 registered voters cast their ballots.
Voting total overall for Coryell County was 1,636 with 387 of those votes being mail-in ballots.
Early voting continues through Friday, with polls being open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. today, and 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. the remainder of the week.
Polls are located at the Coryell County Justice Center, 210 S. 1st St. in Copperas Cove and at the Main Street Annex, located at 801 E. Leon St. in Gatesville.
A wide field of candidates will be narrowed by the results of the March 6 primary, to include a lineup of six for Coryell County judge, including Janice Gray, Alan Mathis, Wayne Avery, Bob Harrell, Roger Miller, and John Derrick.
For county commissioner of precinct 2, Scott Weddle is up against incumbent Daren Moore. In the race for county commissioner of precinct 4, incumbent Ray Ashby, is being challenged by Keith Taylor.
There is a four-way race for Coryell County District Clerk between Joey Acfalle, Kelly Caldwell Bragewitz, Becky Moore, and Jeremy Pruitt.
There are three candidates for County treasurer, to include Randi McFarlin, Cindy Hitt, and Misti Maxwell Morra.
Justice of the Peace precinct 3 candidates include Doran Belknap Jr., Gary Stiles, and Jim Caldwell.
Unopposed candidates in other races include all incumbents: County court-at-law judge, John Lee; Justice of the Peace Precinct 1, John B. Guinn; Justice of the Peace Precinct 2, F.W. (Bill) Price; Justice of the Peace precinct 4, Coy Latham; County Clerk, Barbara Simpson.
