Rose E. Smith

Rose E. Smith was born in 1951 in Denver, Colorado. She passed away in the home she shared with her daughter Cindy, on Saturday, February 2, 2018.
Rose moved to Carlsbad, NM with her family when she was very young, and also lived in Clovis NM and Amarillo, TX for a while. After graduating from Carlsbad High School in 1970, she married her husband, Rodger Smith in 1971, while he was in the Air Force. While he was stationed in Alaska, she lived in Washington state.
Rose spent most of her adult life in Carlsbad, NM. She graduated from New Mexico State University with a Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education in 1999. She moved to Central Texas where she taught school in Leander, Waco, and Copperas Cove. Later in life, she drove cab 8 for Cove Taxi. She always enjoyed having long talks with the soldiers she met that were stationed at Ft. Hood.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents, Emery and Eva June Replogle; sister, Erma Jean Roper; brothers, Alan Replogle, Kevin Replogle, and Ronnie Roper; and husband, Rodger Smith.
Rose is survived by her brother, Howard Roper of Alabama and sister Melody Jarrell of Nevada; Children, Patricia (Mike) Carley, of San Antonio, Jerry (Heather) Smith of Copperas Cove, and Cindy Smith-Jones of Killeen.
She had many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, great-nephews, and great-nieces by blood and by love.
Everyone knew her as “Grandma”.
A celebration of Rose’s life will be held at the Copperas Cove Campus of Refuge Ministries at 3 pm on Friday, February 9, 2018.
A graveside service and interment will be at the Carlsbad Cemetery at 3 pm on Saturday, February 10, 2018. Family and close friends will meet for a meal and fellowship after the services.

Or they can be brought to the graveside service on Saturday.
