Keeping the world green and clean is the theme of this weekend’s eighth annual Eco Harvest, sponsored by Keep Copperas Cove Beautiful.
On Friday, fourth graders with the Copperas Cove Independent School District will spend a day-long field trip at the event, to be held at the Copperas Cove Civic Center.
Eco Harvest has interactive, hands-on exhibits along with information to show how to live more environmentally friendly by recycling, composting, harvesting rainwater, and more.
On Saturday, the event is free for the entire community and starts at 9 a.m. with a free pancake and sausage breakfast until 11 a.m. or while supplies last, prepared by volunteers from the Copperas Cove Rotary Club. The festival runs until noon on Saturday.
Sustainability groups from throughout Central Texas will be on hand, as well as Keep Copperas Cove Beautiful volunteers sharing exhibits to include paper recycling, seed planting, and take-home crafts.
Along with free face painting from 9-11:30 a.m. and the pancake breakfast, KCCB is giving away a $50 gift card, with those who attend and complete a survey being eligible for the gift card drawing.
Zoomagination from San Antonio returns for educational presentations with the ever-popular sloth and other animals.
The animal programs will be held at 9:30 and at 10:45 a.m.
KCCB’s theme for this year is “Passport To A Greener World” and the group will have passports on hand for children to get stamped.
Those who already have passports stamped at events like the Don’t Mess With Texas Trash Off and the Spring Eco Fling held in April should make sure they bring their passports on Saturday.
