Killeen, Texas – On Saturday, October 7, A&M-Central Texas welcomes prospective students on campus for “Preview Day.” Designed to showcase academic programs, admissions, scholarship and financial aid information and student activities, the event is free and open to the public, beginning at 10 a.m. in the Multipurpose Room of Warrior Hall.
Recently identified by The Austin American Statesman as “The Bargain of the Bunch,” A&M-Central Texas was recognized for its affordable tuition, compared to 38 Texas public universities.
A&M-Central Texas is an upper-level university with a unique mission: to increase degree attainment throughout the Central Texas region, attracting growing numbers of new students since 2009 who are drawn to the new campus.
A part of the Texas A&M University System, A&M-Central Texas works closely with regional community colleges, encouraging students to complete the general education core, transferring in to degree programs in one of three of the university’s three colleges: the College of Business Administration, the College of Education, and the College of Arts and Sciences.
Clifton Jones, Executive Director of Enrollment Management, touts Preview Day as more than information gathering, although there’s quite a variety of information available.
“The faculty in the university’s programs will be here to meet one-to-one with prospective students, share program information, and encouragement,” he said. “They are very invested in student learning and take a great deal of pride in meeting, working with and mentoring our students. That dedication results in A&M-Central Texas students who’ve not only realized their academic goals, but their personal and professional goals, as well.”
