School board, city council candidates to be at Saturday’s political forum

The Copperas Cove Chamber of Commerce is hosting a political forum for all Copperas Cove city council and CCISD board of trustee candidates on Saturday, from 1-3 p.m. at the Copperas Cove Public Library. The event is open to the public and will also be broadcast live on the Chamber’s Facebook page for those who cannot attend. 
The chamber will field questions to the candidates which have been received from the general public via its Facebook event page, at https://www.facebook.com/events/202088516995513. Also, questions may be emailed to forum director, Azeita Taylor, prior to the event at azeitataylor@gmail.com.
Coryell County judge John Firth as well as Rep. Dr. J.D. Sheffield will be on hand to speak briefly on county and state level issues, including propositions that will be on the November 2017 ballot.
Candidates for the Copperas Cove city council include Edward “Marc” Payne, John A. Hull, and Danny Palmer, who are vying for place 6, currently occupied by George Duncan.
Place 7 is a two-way race between incumbent Matthew Russell, with Charlie Youngs challenging for that council seat. 
Candidates for the CCISD board of trustees include Place 5 incumbent Bob Weiss who faces off against challenger Jeffrey Gorres. For place 6, incumbent Jim Copeland faces challenger John Gallen. Dr. Karen Harrison is the place 7 incumbent and runs unopposed.
