The Copperas Cove Burger King Cove is now closed, but not due to a lack of business or support from the community.
“It’s a really good store for us. That’s why we’re going to scrape it and make it 100 times better,” said Nick Boyle, vice president of development and construction for Ampler Burgers, the franchise company that owns 42 Burger King stores throughout Texas.
The approximately four-month project is set to get under way sometime this month.
“We’re in the process of removing equipment now, salvaging what we can to put back in the store after we rebuild,” Boyle said. After equipment removal, things will start to happen quickly, he added.
Outside, the parking lot will have LED lighting and the drive-through will expand to two lanes to speed the ordering process for customers.
“The interior will have what we call our ‘2020 image.’ It’s more of a modern interior with soft seating and user-friendly features like USB ports at the tables and free wi-fi.”
The store will have a variety of types of seating, to include two-tops, four-tops, some community tables and lounge style seating.
One thing that is going away is a dedicated children’s play area, like the current restaurant has, Boyle said. There will be interactive activities on the flat-screen TVs in the new store, which also plans to have family nights after reopening, he added.
Sometime in January when the newly built store opens, Burger King will have a grand reopening to include music, food and prize giveaways.
“This remodel re-states Ampler Burgers’ commitment to grow and re-image the Burger King brand throughout Texas.”
In addition to Copperas Cove, Ampler Burgers has two additional central Texas restaurants slated for remodels by the end of 2017 and nine total throughout the state.
“We also have two new from-the-ground-up developments scheduled to open in the coming months in the Killeen/Temple area. We are extremely excited to improve our image in Copperas Cove and continue to provide new employment opportunities to the area. With the remodels and new builds we will add nearly 100 new jobs to the immediate area,” said Boyle.
