Copperas Cove City sales tax revenues up again

The sales tax revenue payments for August 2017 will soon make their way to cities throughout Texas, and the city of Copperas Cove’s sales tax rebate check for August 2017 is $428,696.51, up 4.34 percent from the $410,841.36 it received in August 2016, according to the monthly report released Wednesday from the office of state comptroller Glenn Hegar. 

Overall for 2017, Copperas Cove’s sales tax revenues are up 6.35 percent for 2017 at $3,032,757.12 in receipts compared to 2016’s $2,851,583.69. 

Gatesville’s sales tax rebate will be $$198,200.03, up 10.75 percent from last August’s $178,959.17, and overall up 5.51 percent compared to 2016. 

In Lampasas County, Kempner is receiving $10,793.79 in sales tax revenue, down 18.5 percent from August 2016’s amount of $13,245.49. Kempner is down 3.48 percent for 2017 compared to 2016. The city of Lampasas is up 1.45 percent from August 2016, receiving $152,160.06 compared to last year’s amount of $149,980.11.

Killeen’s revenue amounts to $2,025,692.04, an increase of 2.75 percent from last August at $1,971,356.36 but up for 2017 overall at 3.22 percent. 

Harker Heights saw a decrease of 1.73 percent with sales tax revenues totaling $$614,631.87, up from last August’s amount of $625,457.84. For 2017, Harker Heights’ rebate totals are down 0.08 percent. Belton will receive $$556,274.45 in sales tax rebates, up 26.46 percent from the $439,849.58 it received in August 2016. Belton is up 5.73 percent overall for 2017 compared to 2016.

State Comptroller Glenn Hegar will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose taxing districts $779.2 million in local sales tax allocations for August, 1.3 percent more than in August 2016. 

These allocations are based on sales made in June by businesses that report tax monthly, and sales made in April, May and June by quarterly filers.
