CTC, Mayborn Science Theatre hosting July 4 shows

For those who plan to watch the Fort Hood fireworks display from the campus of Central Texas College, several campus clubs are planning to roll out the welcome mat by offering food and refreshments for sale from 4-10 p.m. outside the Mayborn Science Theater in front of the Science Center, located at Building 150.
“While the public is invited to campus to view the Fort Hood fireworks display, all CTC policies must be followed which includes no alcohol, weapons, fireworks or any other illegal items on campus,” Bruce Vasbinder, CTC’s marketing director, stated in a press release. “Designated parking areas and pedestrian areas will be marked for viewing the fireworks.”
Starting on Tuesday morning, the college’s Mayborn Science Theater, will offer matinee shows scheduled for 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
The first show is “Jillian’s Travels: Safari So Good,” followed by “Dinosaurs at Dusk”at 11:30 a.m.
After the matinees come the laser light shows starting at 12:30 p.m. with “Space Laser”. Featured songs include “Men In Black,” “Kryptonite,” “She Blinded Me With Science,” “Rock Lobster” from artists like R.E.M. Weird Al Yankovic, Depeche Mode, U2, Journey and more.
“Laser Hip Hop” starts at 4:30 p.m., with the “Spirit of America” at 5:30 p.m., including songs like “God Bless America” by Celine Dion, “Hoedown” by Aaron Copland, “Centerfield” by John Fogerty, “Standing Outside The Fire” by Garth Brooks, “God Bless the U.S.A.” by Lee Greenwood and more.
“Laser iPop” is at 6:30 p.m., which is the Mayborn Science Theater’s version of “indoor fireworks.” Next up at 7:30 p.m. is “Laser Country” featuring the best of classic and contemporary country music.
