Gilbert Ernest Jentho

Gilbert Ernest Jentho passed away on October 24, 2016, at Scott and White Hospital in Temple. He was born November 25, 1923 in Albany, Texas and permanently located to Copperas Cove after his honorable discharge from the US Army at Fort Chaffey, AR in 1946.
 
On August 9, 1949, he married the love of his life Alein Kunkel. He worked at Mickan Cotton Gin, ran the movie projector at the original Cove Theater, and worked as a carpenter.
 
Mr. Jentho was most proud of his military service as a member of Company B, 648th Tank Destroyer Battalion, during World War II.
 
He received the World War II Victory Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Ribbon, EAME Theater Ribbon, and two Bronze Service Stars.
 
Mr. Jentho was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Selma (Schneider) Jentho, two sisters Erna Eubank and Elsie Robertson, and one brother Edward Jentho.
 
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Alein (Kunkel); daughter Cynthia LeFebvre (James) of North Conway, NH; son Michael Jentho (Molly) of Copperas Cove; two grandchildren Rachel Homan (Orlando Lindsay) of Killeen and Steven (Christina) Homan of Austin; 5 great grandchildren, and numerous nephews and nieces.
 
Graveside services will be today at 1 p.m. at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery.
